No Breaking The Law...!

We had a discussion about the law on piracy and downloading.In a law abided way downloading is illegal. But this does not stop any of us from doing it, we all do. Downloading songs for free means that you are not buying the rights from the company that deals with that album or songs..so it you don't have the right to use their work. The system of buying rights is how all music company's survive. It takes effort some people download it burn it and give it away for free.

Take a look at music dowloading programs...for example Limewire. This program enables you to share mp3's with people. This is still illegal because...you're not buying it you're just sharing mp3's that are yours and others. Legally speaking you should buy the company rights.

But the law here is helter-skelter...messed up confusing...so its hard for people to realize the mistakes..and illegal things they do. The rules about DVD's are very clear..but for music...specially mp3's are still in the mists...

We discussed Computer Ethnics in class on Thursday...There are two main types ethnics..

1) Utilitarianism: A kind of decision made by a person that gives a positive gain to most of the people.

2)Continism: This is a good decision is you think everyone else will make the same decision.

When it comes to computers people have different ethnics.

This means that since they aren't interacting with people they can do what ever they like...without considering the person's feelings..Another thing is since they aren't doing anything physically..according to them they think its right to do it virtually. THings like hacking, cracking , piracy and dangerous viruses..is what destroy's people lives in the computer..

-hacking: destroying files...

-cracking: destroying people's security system'

-piracy: more information will be told in next class..

-viruses: a software program that is able to destroy files or other programs..

-DOS: denial of service attack

This done by people who are professional called hackers...slang version is script-kiddies.

Class assignment On Computer Hacking

We are going to learn about uses of a computer bad uses, good uses. For now we have been told to select any article from ebsco host on Computer Hacking read it and summarize it. This shows how much we have understood by reading the article.

Here is a breif summary of my understanding from this article.
There are people that are attacking our browsers..getting information of what we do, getting into our accounts whether it's banks or email. These Mischeif makers are called computer hackers. Once they enter into our browsers they have access to all sorts of information in our computer, as well as the sites we go to. To solve this commotion microsoft released an emergency update patch. This program gained 38 flaws by the beginning of 2006. The sames goes for other brwosers such FireFox although it's a bit more stringer in terms of protection. Firefox took 2 days to patch the flaws..but explorer took 9.

Hackers mostly target home users. So the users should increase their security by installing latest browser updates. These upgrades will manage to stop a few people that will try to rob your indentity and steal your personal information.There are security program you can install. Such as Norton AntiVirus or McAfee. But if you want safer and try something new. Try the opera browser it has less problems of people hacking. That way you will be alot safer and there's a very little chance of having to loose valuable information. So be safe otherwise try security updates but there's no guarantee. If hackers can enter a computer with a security program running maybe they can do the same with updates..

oK SO WE HAD THE EXCEL TEST...it was pretty easy....exept for 2 questions which i am sure i messed up in..anywayz i havent yet completed my assignment where i am supposed to be a student out of high school living on my own havin my own expenses...other than that there's no assignment...i have soo much hw today... geo, english storyboard, possibly..french and dere's math sad but true...that's all i have to say...rite now the bell's about to go soon...i hope...rite now im gona relax since i dun have 2 wry abt nethin here...yey...bye all muah!

Podcast due 2mrrww!! New excel assign.

Ok it's been a long time since but within these 4 days of class we have been working on excel we first did a chart ... so and then learnt how to insert it in another microsoft program like powerpoint and link it so if you change apart of your chart while editing it will be apllied to your chart in powerpoint. This is a more professional level of copy paste. You open powerpoint, then you click on Insert>object>select what you want inserted>click 0n link and press ok. Your job is done...For amateurs its copy and paste but if you change something in excel you have to copy and paste again because they are not linked...Now we have to do a chart.. on our expenses..we have just completed university and now we have to find apratment..and all sorts of necessities...phone,internet,clothing, etc..

Ok we all...came back from the break...today...and sadly we're back to school with double more work...in computers we started learning about exel..which is a good program its like a spreadsheet which you can use to do calculation,make,graphs,all sorts of mathematical operations.We have an assignment to do, what we have to do is do a average of our term 1 marks by using exel...and try out all the different options and controls exel contains...so we can get familiar with the program.Thats about it for now...now i ahve to work on my assignment..
